Dear Parents,

We are continuing our music project at G.E.S. designed to help your child read more fluently in music and in the
classroom.   This project will involve allowing students opportunities to practice specific skills at home using music kits.

Kits have been developed that include printed music and in many instances a simple percussion instrument.  Some will
also contain an accompanying CD.  There are several levels of these kits and students will be encouraged to complete
them in a sequential order.  We hope the kits will create an excitement for reading music in our students.

These kits were funded with money raised from donut sales in the fall and a grant from the Chipola Regional Arts
Council.  Since there was considerable cost and time involved assembling these kits, it will be the responsibility of
students and parents to make sure they are returned in excellent condition.  Payment will have to be made for any
damage or loss to the kits, beyond normal wear.  The cost of the kits is between $3 and $20, depending on the
contents.

Only those students who have written permission from their parents will check out the music kits.  If you would like your
child to participate in this project, please complete the form below and return it to the music room at Graceville
Elementary School.

Sincerely,

Karen W. Bouton
Music Instructor
